In an increasingly isolating time in 2022, a sense of community can be challenging. Cuquita The Cuban Doll and Queen Daddy are looking for connections. Like many in the digital age, they seek it through a dating app. Both are pleasantly impressed by each other’s vibrant profiles and arrange to meet for the first time. Through their alter egos’ perspectives, humor, satire, and absurdity, Newcomb and Romagoza address the notions of identity, gender, feminism, and sense of belonging to ultimately celebrate freedom and the right to exist outside of patriarchal and societal categories. This collaboration arose within the EMERGENYC Flagship 2022 program, where Newcomb and Romagoza participated.

En un momento cada vez más aislado en 2022, un sentido de comunidad puede ser un desafío. Cuquita la Muñeca Cubana y Queen Daddy están buscando conexiones. Como muches en la era digital, lo buscan a través de una aplicación de citas. Ambes quedan gratamente impresionades por los vibrantes perfiles del otro y hacen arreglos para encontrarse por primera vez. A través de las perspectivas, el humor, la sátira y el absurdo de sus alter egos, Newcomb y Romagoza abordan las nociones de identidad, género, feminismo y sentido de pertenencia para finalmente celebrar la libertad y el derecho a existir fuera de las categorías patriarcales y sociales.
